Burg Ober-Falkenstein, Medieval hilltop castle ruins in Flintsbach am Inn, Germany
The castle remains stand 200 meters above the Inn River on Rachelfelsen mountain, with its stone walls hidden within dense forest vegetation.
Built around 1120 by Bishop Albuin of Brixen and the Aribone family, the castle controlled important trade routes connecting Tyrol to Mediterranean regions.
The site holds archaeological significance with discoveries dating to the Bronze Age, including a necklace that indicates early administrative functions.
The castle ruins are registered as monument D-1-87-131-21 and buried monument D-1-8238-0190 in the Bavarian Atlas, preserving medieval artifacts.
The structure features foundational walls, a circular ring wall, and fortification barriers on its western side, while steep cliffs protect other directions.
