DDR-Museum Zeitreise, East German Life Museum in Radebeul, Germany
The museum spans four floors totaling 3500 square meters and houses 60,000 exhibits including 140 vehicles from the German Democratic Republic period.
The institution opened in 2006 in a former state-owned power plant construction company building, showcasing everyday experiences of East German citizens until 2023.
Each level presents different aspects of East German society, from transportation and economy to housing, recreation, sports, and the political structure.
Located at Wasastrasse 50, the museum maintains regular hours from Tuesday through Sunday, welcoming visitors between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
Actor Tom Hanks visited the museum during the filming of Cloud Atlas in Saxony in 2011, exploring its extensive collection of historical artifacts.
