Mohns Park, Public park in Gütersloh, Germany
Mohns Park is a public green space in Gütersloh with open lawns, pathways, and recreational facilities for visitors of all ages. The grounds feature an outdoor theater, a water play area, sports courts, a mini-golf course, and a children's play zone with cable cars.
Johannes Mohn purchased the land in 1904 to preserve local heath and forest habitats, and the city acquired it in 1937 to serve the public. This transition from private conservation area to public green space shaped its role as a recreation hub for the city.
The outdoor theater in this green space opened in 1949 and holds around 1,100 spectators who gather for performances during the Gütersloh summer program.
The park is open to the public with well maintained pathways suitable for walking and sport activities throughout the year. Visitors can easily find different activity zones and choose what to do based on the season and personal interests.
During winter the roller hockey rink is flooded to create an ice skating surface for seasonal recreation. This dual purpose design makes efficient use of the facility across different times of the year.
