Eyüp-Sultan-Moschee

The Eyüp Sultan Mosque is a house of worship in Emden housed within a converted building near the main station. The prayer hall spans approximately 130 square meters, while the total facility covers about 370 square meters and includes separate prayer areas for men and women.

The building was acquired through foreclosure in 2008 and converted into a mosque, opening in 2009 to serve the local Muslim population. This marked the establishment of a dedicated religious institution for a community that had previously lacked a permanent place of worship in the city.

The mosque is managed by the Turkish-Islamic Union DITIB and serves as a gathering place for the local Muslim community. It provides a shared space where people from different backgrounds come together for prayer and community activities.

The mosque welcomes visitors and is conveniently located near the city center, making it easy to reach. Plan your visit around prayer times, as the facility is primarily used for worship during these periods throughout the day.

This was the first mosque established in East Frisia, filling a long-standing gap for Muslims in the region. Before its opening, believers had to travel to nearby towns like Papenburg or Oldenburg to find a place to pray.
