Evangelische Kreuzkirche Wiedenest

The Evangelical Cross Church stands on a walled cemetery in the slope of the Dörspetal valley, featuring a three-nave pillar basilica construction.

Founded in the early 12th century as a branch of the Gummersbach parish church, the building received rights for its own priest and baptismal font in 1154.

The wall paintings from the 15th century display the Holy Cross Legend, telling biblical stories from Adam through Heraclius with rich details.

The church maintains regular services and functions as a community center in Wiedenest, part of the Bergneustadt municipality in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Johannes Rohlf constructed his first organ here in 1964, incorporating seven registers into the church's balustrade.
