Affen- und Vogelpark Eckenhagen, Zoo and amusement park in Reichshof, Germany
Affen- und Vogelpark Eckenhagen is a zoo and amusement park covering about eight hectares in Reichshof. The grounds house different monkey species such as Barbary macaques and capuchin monkeys, along with various bird species in viewable enclosures.
The park was established in 1981, growing from a bird collection that began in 1972 in Upper Bavaria for behavioral research. This research foundation shaped its development into the present-day zoo with monkey and bird exhibits.
Visitors can observe and interact with animals throughout the grounds in a relaxed way. The layout encourages people to walk through habitats and watch monkeys and birds moving about in their spaces.
The grounds have covered halls for bad weather equipped with play equipment, trampolines, and carousels for children. Wear comfortable shoes since walking through the entire property requires significant time on your feet.
A specialized flight hall spanning about 500 square meters displays bird species in a natural setting that recreates the Danube Delta environment. This space allows many bird species to fly freely and display natural behaviors.
