Local folklore tells of an underground passage connecting the castle to Grünenbach village, used for supplies during periods of siege.
The castle site connects to multiple hiking trails, including the Richard-Schirrmann path and the Lenne-Sieg route through the surrounding region.
Archaeological investigations in 1933 revealed terraced cellars beneath the castle structure, with legends speaking of a golden plow in the seventh basement.
