Veitsburg

Veitsburg is a castle with three round towers connected by thick stone walls that shape the Ravensburg skyline. Inside the complex, a traditional German restaurant and a youth hostel provide facilities for visitors spending time here.

The castle was built around 930 and served for centuries as a fortification and residence for noble families. It underwent various transformations and changes in purpose throughout the medieval period before taking its current form.

The castle serves as a place where visitors encounter displays about medieval construction methods and the noble families who shaped the region. The rooms reflect how people lived and worked within these walls during different centuries.

The castle sits on a hilltop and is reachable on foot from the city center, though visitors should expect some steps. A visit can easily be combined with dining or staying overnight, as both facilities are located within the complex.

From the three towers, visitors see not only Ravensburg and its surroundings but also the distant Allgäu region beyond. This elevated position was strategically valuable and still offers a special view across the landscape today.
