Gaulskopf, Mountain peak and archaeological site in Wetteraukreis, Germany

The Gaulskopf rises to 396.8 meters above sea level within the Eastern Hintertaunus region of the Rhine Slate Mountains in Hesse.

The mountain contained a Roman watchtower that monitored the Empire's border along the Limes, with remains still visible at the site.

The reconstructed Roman tower, built in 1926 with funds from German-American businessman Gustav Oberlaender, stands 15.1 meters tall.

Visitors can climb 47 steps to reach the viewing platform of the Römerturm, which provides views through 16 archways.

In 2005, the Römerturm and surrounding Limes structures received UNESCO World Heritage status for their historical importance.
