Goßlerhaus, Cultural heritage villa in Blankenese, Germany.
The Goßlerhaus is a two-story neoclassical villa with timber framing, wooden paneling, and stone elements located at Goßlers Park in Hamburg. The building combines elegant architectural details with mixed construction materials set within a designed landscape.
An English merchant commissioned architect Christian Frederik Hansen to design this country residence in 1794. A fire in 1901 led to significant reconstruction that altered the building's structure.
The building houses the Horst-Janssen-Bibliothek, a collection dedicated to the works of a renowned German illustrator and graphic artist. Visitors can explore the artistic output and graphic work of this important creative figure within these walls.
The property now functions as a conference venue for Bucerius Law School with public access through organized events and exhibitions. The location at the park provides good pathways for exploring the grounds and surrounding area.
The villa sits atop a hill that was originally bare and unformed before an English merchant transformed it with an English-style park. This site became completely redesigned through the addition of pathways, trees, and green spaces.
