Meisdorf House, Heritage château and hotel in Falkenstein/Harz, Germany.
Meisdorf House is a château located 320 meters above the Selke Valley within a protected forest area, displaying architectural elements from different periods. The complex features extensive parkland with walking paths and gardens spread across the entire estate.
The château was built between 1120 and 1150 and initially belonged to the Counts of Falkenstein. It later came under the control of the Asseburg family, who held it as a fief for generations.
The name comes from medieval times and reflects its role as an important administrative center for the region. Visitors can still see the rooms where significant decisions for the surrounding area were made.
The estate operates today as a hotel with a restaurant serving regional cuisine, and offers guided tours through its museum spaces. Visitors can also explore the parkland on their own or participate in organized walks.
The estate served as a filming location for several German productions, including Spuk unterm Riesenrad and Schneeweißchen und Rosenrot. These films helped transport the romantic character of the place into popular culture.
