Schloss Untergröningen

Schloss Untergröningen sits on a mountain spur of Frickenhofer Höhe in Baden-Württemberg and displays Renaissance architecture with modifications from the 18th century. The building combines design elements from several periods that become visible when walking through its spaces.

The château was first documented in 1351 and changed hands several times before Christoph III Schenk von Limpurg-Gaildorf transformed it into a château in 1564. This conversion fundamentally shaped the building's appearance and turned it into a residence of power.

The KISS art group uses the château for contemporary art exhibitions, bringing modern creative expression into this historical setting. Visitors encounter current works from regional and local artists when they walk through its rooms.

The building is accessible by car at Schloss 1 in Abtsgmünd-Untergröningen and welcomes visitors on weekends and public holidays. It helps to check opening times in advance, as they can shift depending on the season.

Three completely different groups share space under one roof: a Catholic parish, an art association, and a local history group. This unusual coexistence shows how this place serves multiple purposes for its audiences today.
