Altenberg Tower, Observation tower in Hohenberg, Germany.
The Altenberg Tower is an observation tower located near Hohenberg in the Schwäbisch Hall district of Baden-Württemberg, standing 42.5 meters tall. It sits at about 565 meters elevation and offers a complete panoramic view from its viewing platform.
The tower was built and opened in October 2007, creating a new destination at one of the highest points in the Limpurg Hills region. This development made a previously less accessible location available for visitors to explore.
The observation platform has metal information plaques that help visitors identify landmarks and geographical features spread across the surrounding landscape. These guides make it easy to understand the different regions and natural areas visible from above.
The tower is reached by a 300-meter gravel path starting from the parking area east of Hohenberg. The path is relatively level and easy to walk, making it accessible for most visitors.
On clear days, visitors can see four distinct mountain ranges in a single panoramic view from the platform: the Kaiser mountains, the Hohenlohe plains, the Ellwanger mountains, and the Ostalb. This continuous panorama reveals the varied landscape that defines the entire region.
