Schmiedelfeld Castle, Renaissance château and brewery in Sulzbach-Laufen, Germany
The castle stands on a ridge 100 meters above the Eisbach and Kocher River junction, featuring distinctive Renaissance architectural elements and baroque modifications.
First documented in 1172 with Siegfried von Smidelfeld, the castle changed ownership multiple times before becoming a Württemberg administrative office in 1781.
The Renaissance castle church, among the few remaining sacred structures from that period in Schwäbisch Hall district, now hosts cultural events.
The castle wing transformed into a brewery in 1832 when the Württemberg state sold the property to the Schmiedelfeld community.
The castle chapel underwent an unexpected transformation from a place of worship to a tavern during the property's conversion to commercial use.
