Wasserturm Bocholt, Water tower in Bocholt, Germany.
The Wasserturm Bocholt is a brick tower in the city of Bocholt in North Rhine-Westphalia. The structure has a cylindrical shape and defines the local skyline with its distinctive profile.
The tower was built in 1913 as part of the city's water supply infrastructure and served residents for many decades. After operations stopped in 2004, the building found new purpose with a different use.
The structure received monument protection status in 1984, recognizing its significance in the development of municipal water infrastructure.
Access to the tower is limited since much of the building serves as classroom space. Visitors can view the structure well from outside and get a good sense of the architecture from street level.
The interior was converted to school space starting in 1998, giving the historic tower an entirely new role. This transformation shows how old infrastructure buildings can continue serving communities with creative reuse.
