Katz’scher Garten

The garden extends along the Murg river bank, featuring classical architectural elements, ornate sculptures, and diverse exotic plants throughout its landscaped grounds.

The garden originated in the early 19th century when an Italian landscape architect designed it for the wealthy Katz family, incorporating Florida cypress and magnolia trees.

The garden houses a collection of stone carvings and ironwork artifacts dating from the 15th to 19th centuries, gathered by Johanna Katz between 1913 and 1952.

Visitors can reach the garden by walking 300 meters from Gernsbach train station toward the city center until they spot the cast-iron entrance gate.

Two magnolia trees from the first half of the 19th century stand in the garden as the oldest specimens of their kind in Germany.
