Schloss Eberstein, Medieval castle and vineyard in Gernsbach, Germany
The stone fortress stands on a hill overlooking the Murg valley, featuring a gatehouse with arrow slits and a two-story cavalier building.
Built between 1235 and 1272 by the Count of Eberstein, the castle remained with the Margrave of Baden from the 17th century until 2000.
The castle includes a yellow sandstone crucifixion group from 1464, showing artistic connections to the Gernsbach sacrament house at Jakobuskirche.
The castle now operates as a four-star hotel with 14 rooms and houses a Michelin-starred restaurant combining Baden and French culinary traditions.
The castle's vineyard, situated on steep slopes above the Murg valley, has maintained continuous wine production for over 600 years.
