The Staatstheater Cottbus presents plays, operas, operettas, musicals, orchestral concerts, and ballet performances throughout the theatrical season.
The theater opened on October 1, 1908, following a 16-month construction period initiated by the prosperous textile industry community of Cottbus.
The building combines architectural elements, craftsmanship, paintings, and sculptures in the Jugendstil style, designed by Berlin architect Bernhard Sehring.
The theater attracts more than 130,000 spectators annually and maintains its own ensemble for various performing arts productions.
This institution stands as the only state theater in the German federal state of Brandenburg, offering a complete range of performing arts under one roof.
