Weltspiegel Kino, Cinema heritage building in Cottbus, Germany.
Weltspiegel Kino is a cinema building in Cottbus with three screening rooms of different sizes. The main hall accommodates approximately 500 visitors, while two smaller auditoriums each have around 80 seats and feature modern digital 3D projection technology.
The building was constructed in 1911 and is the second-oldest operating cinema in Germany and the oldest in Brandenburg. Its long history demonstrates the evolution of cinema in this region over more than a century.
The theater presents art films and international productions that draw audiences interested in artistic cinema. Beyond screenings, concerts and cultural performances take place here, making it a living venue for artistic exchange.
The cinema opens thirty minutes before the first screening of the day. Visitors should arrive with enough time to orient themselves in the building and find their seats.
The facade features late historic plaster work with a convex arch, decorated with baroque cartouche bands and putti statues on ram head consoles. These ornamental details are typical of the architectural language of the era and give the building its distinctive visual character.
