Leiden Christi, Parish church in Obermenzing, Munich, Germany.
Leiden Christi is a parish church in Obermenzing, a district of Munich, distinguished by a 45 meter tall tower topped with an onion dome. The bell tower houses five bells cast by the Bachert foundry in 1956.
Construction started in May 1923 with funding from American donations, and Cardinal Michael von Faulhaber consecrated the building in November 1924. These transatlantic connections opened new perspectives for church architecture in the post-war period.
The west entrance displays scenes from Jesus Christ's life with focus on the crucifixion, while the choir windows depict Isaac's sacrifice. These artworks communicate biblical stories directly to visitors as they enter the building.
The church is located at Passionistenstrasse 12 and is best reached through the parish community's official website for planning your visit. Service times and event information are regularly updated there.
The interior houses an impressive Albert Moser organ from 1924 featuring 39 registers that enriches the prayer experience with its resonant sound. The bell system rings according to a specific pattern for different liturgical occasions, giving the building its own acoustic identity.
