Museum der Brotkultur, Bread culture museum in Ulm, Germany.
The Museum der Brotkultur displays 20,000 objects including tools, paintings, sculptures, and religious artifacts related to bread production and consumption throughout history.
Established in 1955 by Willy Eiselen and his son Hermann, this institution became the first museum worldwide dedicated to bread and its societal importance.
The museum exhibits paintings from the 17th century, including works by Pieter Brueghel the Younger, Jan Flegel, and Frans Francken, depicting bread in society.
Located in the Renaissance-era Salzstadel building from 1592, the museum opens Monday and Wednesday 10:00-19:00, Thursday through Sunday 10:00-17:00.
Eight interactive screens present texts, images, and expert explanations about global food security challenges through multimedia installations.
