Orte des Erinnerns, Holocaust memorial in Bayerisches Viertel, Germany
The memorial consists of 80 double-sided signs mounted on lampposts throughout the Bayerisches Viertel neighborhood, displaying anti-Jewish regulations from 1933 to 1945.
Established in 1993, this memorial marks the location where numerous Jewish residents lived before being deported and murdered during the National Socialist period.
Artists Renata Stih and Frieder Schnock designed the memorial to integrate historical documentation into daily life, creating a path of remembrance through the neighborhood streets.
Visitors can access the memorial via U-Bahn lines U4 and U7 at Bayerischer Platz station, with a mobile application providing translations and audio guides.
Each sign combines visual imagery on one side with text on the reverse, documenting specific regulations that progressively restricted Jewish citizens' rights.
