Rheinbrücke Breisach-Neuf Brisach, International road bridge between Breisach and Neuf-Brisach, Germany and France.
The Rheinbrücke Breisach-Neuf-Brisach connects the German town of Breisach with the French town of Neuf-Brisach across the Rhine River. This steel beam structure carries road traffic between the two communities without intermediate supports in the water.
This steel beam bridge was completed on 1 December 1962, replacing a temporary crossing that had served the area since 1947. The project emerged after the Second World War as part of rebuilding efforts between the two nations.
The bridge represents a vital connection point between Baden-Württemberg and Alsace, fostering daily exchanges between German and French communities across the Rhine.
The crossing is accessed via Federal Road 31 on the German side and Route Départementale 415 on the French side. The bridge provides a continuous roadway for vehicle traffic between the two towns.
Germany financed the entire construction of this bridge, reflecting its political importance as a cross-border link after the war. The structure maintains a clearance of approximately 7 meters above water level for river traffic.
