Castle Siebeneichen, Heritage monument in Meissen, Germany
Castle Siebeneichen is a three-wing complex situated above the Elbe Valley and surrounded by expansive landscaped grounds. The park, established between 1805 and 1830, contains open meadows and mature woodland areas.
The von Miltitz family purchased the estate from a Cistercian monastery in 1543 and retained ownership until the land reform of 1945. Following a major fire in 1745, reconstruction transformed the building from Renaissance to Baroque style.
The burial ground on the castle grounds displays gravestones from centuries of local families, showing how people chose to honor their dead on this elevated land.
The castle now operates as a professional training and conference facility hosting events year-round in its spaces. The park grounds are open and offer walking paths through wooded areas and meadows.
The rear section of the building preserves original spiral staircases from before the 1745 fire, offering a glimpse into Renaissance craftsmanship. These staircases survive as rare examples of the original construction technique.
