Schlosskirche Blieskastel

Schlosskirche Blieskastel is a rectangular hall church with a polygonal choir and a prominent gable facade. The building is crowned by two towers, with the western tower featuring a distinctive onion dome that stands out visually.

The building was constructed between 1776 and 1781 under architect Peter Reheis, commissioned by the Counts von der Leyen. It was originally designed as a monastery church for the Franciscans.

The church displays features of late Baroque and Classical styles that you can see in its interior furnishings and decorative details. Visitors notice how these two architectural traditions blend together in the original fittings from when it was built.

The building underwent major restoration from 2001 to 2004, with facade and roofing improvements completed. Visitors will find a well-maintained structure that is easy to view from the outside.

The two towers are distinctly different: the larger western tower has a striking onion dome, while the smaller eastern tower is more modest. This mismatched pair gives the building an unusual and intriguing appearance.
