Heilig-Kreuz-Kapelle, Pilgrimage chapel in Blieskastel, Germany.
The Heilig-Kreuz-Kapelle stands on the Han hill above Blieskastel and serves as a pilgrimage chapel with religious significance for the region. Its interior features a ribbed vault painted in original colors, while the entrance displays the heraldic crest of the von der Leyen family.
The chapel was built between 1682 and 1683 under the direction of Johann Simon Rosinus and replaced a smaller earlier structure. Barons Carl Caspar and Damian Adolph von der Leyen provided funding for its construction.
The chapel houses a 14th-century Pietà known as 'Our Lady with the Arrows', which arrived in 1829 from Gräfinthal monastery and draws visitors from surrounding regions. For many believers, this statue represents a place of personal devotion and spiritual connection.
The chapel underwent interior renovation in 2013 and can be visited in good condition. A 1972 organ with five registers and a free-standing console near the entrance adds to the interior.
During the French Revolution in 1793, the chapel served temporarily as a guard room and powder storage. It was reconsecrated for religious use in 1804.
