SS-Kaserne, Military barracks in Nuremberg, Germany.
The SS-Kaserne is a military barracks complex in Nuremberg built with red brick and stone accents. The main structure contains approximately 1000 rooms arranged across multiple connected wings and sections.
The complex was built to serve as a manufacturing site for communications equipment of the Waffen-SS. After 1941 it became an external camp of the Dachau concentration camp system.
The building now serves as a federal administrative center, yet its physical form still carries traces of former times. What once had military purpose today hosts civil servants working on immigration matters.
Access to the complex is restricted as it currently functions as an administrative center and requires prior permission. Visitors should inquire in advance about which areas may be accessible.
The Bavarian heritage conservation authority classified this as one of the primary barracks of the Third Reich, a designation that prevented its demolition. This protected status makes it an important testimony to that era.
