Tierpark Alsdorfer Weiher, Animal park in Alsdorf, Germany
Tierpark Alsdorfer Weiher is an animal park set across a large natural landscape in Alsdorf, home to various animal species. The facility features multiple open enclosures spread throughout the grounds where visitors can observe the animals in semi-natural settings.
The animal park opened in 1967 under city director Helmut Eckert. In 1969, the Alsdorfer Tierparkverein support organization was established to help manage and maintain the facility.
The park has a petting zoo section where children can feed and touch goats. This area teaches visitors informally how to interact with animals respectfully.
The park is open daily to visitors and provides ample space for exploring the various animal enclosures. Parking is available on-site, and the grounds are easily walkable with clear paths connecting the different areas.
Beyond the animal enclosures, the park features an adventure mini-golf course and a climbing pyramid for children. Visitors can also enjoy boat trips on the adjacent Kahnweiher lake, which extends the park experience.
