Stütings Mühle

Stütings Mühle is a watermill built along the Honig creek with machinery driven by flowing water to process grain. The building displays the solid construction typical of regional mills, with masonry and mechanical systems designed to harness water power.

Records from 1307 document a mill operating at this location, showing that water power has been harnessed here since the Middle Ages. The site maintained its importance for grain processing across many centuries of regional development.

The mill served as a gathering place where local farmers brought their grain and conducted business together. You can still sense how this building anchored the rhythms of village life and connected the community.

The site is best explored on foot by walking along the nearby Westertal cycling path, which passes through the area along the stream. The location is easy to reach on foot or by bicycle and works well for visits during daylight hours.

The area around the mill was restored in 2020 through renaturalization of the Wester creek, returning the setting to a more natural state. This recent work links the old building with current efforts to improve stream ecosystems and outdoor recreation.
