Villa Westermann

Villa Westermann is a two-story house in Arnsberg topped with a copper-covered mansard roof and featuring a grand entrance portico. A semi-circular projection with a balcony extends from the southern side, creating visual interest along that facade.

Built around 1920, this residence was commissioned by Martin Westermann, whose family had recently established a metals business. The house served as the family home during the period when their company was growing.

The building reflects how wealthy industrial families expressed their status through architecture during the early 1900s. Walking past it, you notice the blend of formal design elements that were fashionable among successful business owners of that era.

The villa stands on Bahnhofstrasse in the Hüsten district and is not open to the public, as it now houses a retail outlet and a cooking school. You can view and photograph the exterior and its architectural details from the street.

The building received recognition as Monument of the Month by a regional heritage organization in September 2013. This honor highlighted its architectural value and importance to the local historic environment.
