Landestheater Dinkelsbühl is a regional theater presenting comedies, dramas, and musicals with a permanent ensemble of five actors supplemented by guest performers. The venue features an indoor stage with seating for 200 people and an outdoor stage that accommodates around 300 spectators.
The theater was founded in 1953 in Rothenburg ob der Tauber as Kleines Burgschauspiel and moved to Dinkelsbühl in 1956. Its opening production at the new location was Lessing's Emilia Galotti.
The venue serves as a gathering place for theater enthusiasts throughout the region, offering everything from serious dramas to lighter entertainment. People come here to spend time together and feel connected to the cultural life of this historic town.
The two performance spaces are located at Theater im Spitalhof with 200 seats and an open-air stage at Wehrgang with approximately 300 seats. Visitors should plan ahead as the program varies depending on the season and the current schedule.
The main performance space is housed in a protected 16th-century barn that was transformed into a modern theater in 2008. This blend of historic architecture with contemporary function creates something special about the place.
