Münster St. Georg Dinkelsbühl

Münster St. Georg is a Gothic parish church in Dinkelsbühl featuring a distinctive interior supported by eleven pairs of pillars. These pillars hold varied ribbed vaults that create a recognizable structural pattern throughout the space.

Construction of the church started in 1448 and was completed in 1499, incorporating a Romanesque tower portal from around 1220 into its final design. This older element shows how earlier architectural parts were preserved and reused during the medieval building phase.

The high altar displays a large shrine table with crucifixion scenes, while multiple side altars showcase religious artworks from different eras. This collection reflects how the church held meaning for worshippers across centuries.

The church is located centrally at Marktplatz 1 in Dinkelsbühl and welcomes both visitors and worshippers. Its position near the town square makes it easy to combine a visit with exploration of nearby attractions.

The church houses a special window donated by local bakers, positioned in the upper section of the last window. This so-called Pretzl Window shows how different craft guilds expressed their connection to the church.
