Schloss Blankenhain

Schloss Blankenhain is a fortified structure set on an elevated plateau featuring a staircase tower, a historic gate building, and ornamental relief arches on the bay windows. The entire complex displays medieval defensive design combined with detailed brickwork that characterizes its construction.

The fortress was built around 1150 as a Romanesque ring castle on the site of an earlier Frankish stronghold. Major rebuilding in the 17th century shaped the structure as it stands today.

The castle serves as a venue for festivals and markets held throughout the year in its courtyards. You can experience how the space brings together local gatherings and celebrations in these historic surroundings.

The castle is open to visitors from Easter through October, with guided tours exploring the architecture. The main hall can accommodate around 70 guests and is available for private events.

A castle association founded in 2000 works on restoration and conservation of the structure through ongoing projects. This dedicated effort has been essential in preserving the historical character of the building.
