Schloss Burkersdorf

Schloss Burkersdorf is a two-story plastered manor house crowned by a distinctive four-story mansard roof. Its facade features a central projecting section with an early classical entrance and retains its original wooden door.

The site dates back to 1205 as a knight's estate that passed through several noble families over the centuries. The current building was constructed around 1730 by members of the Carlowitz family.

The mansion reflects the heritage of the Carlowitz family, a noble line that held power in the region. It stands as a symbol of their wealth and influence in Thuringia.

The grounds include a maintained park on the south and west sides, where you will find a large pond surrounded by mature trees. Stone walls enclose the entire park area, helping you understand the property's boundaries.

The building spent much of the 20th century in institutional use, serving as a nursing home before returning to private ownership in 1994. This period of public service reshaped its interior while its exterior architecture remained largely intact.
