Saline Wilhelmshall, Salt production facility in Rottweil, Germany
The Saline Wilhelmshall complex includes former brine containers, four boiling houses, and processing facilities for salt extraction operations.
The salt works started operations in 1824, named after King Wilhelm I of Württemberg, and continued production until its closure in 1865.
The industrial heritage of salt production at Saline Wilhelmshall influenced the economic development of Rottweil and surrounding communities.
The facility employed between 40 to 70 administrative staff members and hundreds of auxiliary workers during its peak operational period.
The site produced approximately 800,000 tons of salt over 144 years through a combination of drilling and brine extraction methods.
