Blinder See Kanzach

The Blinder See Kanzach encompasses 10 hectares of intermediate moor featuring a peat excavation lake within the Dürmentinger forest at 582 meters elevation point.

Following artificial groundwater lowering in 1919, peat extraction activities in the 1920s resulted in the creation of a 10-hectare lake in this location.

The protected area serves as an educational site for understanding the transformation of natural landscapes through human activities and subsequent conservation efforts.

Visitors can access the nature reserve through a parking area along the L282 road between Kanzach and Marbach, followed by a short walking distance.

The site contains floating grass mats called Schwingrasen, which now cover large portions of the former peat extraction lake.
