Alte Eisenbahnbrücke Baldeneysee

The Alte Eisenbahnbrücke Baldeneysee is a steel footbridge crossing the reservoir that separates the Heisingen and Kupferdreh districts of Essen. Its distinctive arched design spans the water with a clean, functional form that fits naturally into the landscape.

This structure began in 1872 as a railway bridge designed to carry trains across the water. After wartime destruction, it was rebuilt and eventually repurposed in the 1980s as a pedestrian and cycling crossing.
