Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Haus, Historical villa in Südstadt, Germany

The Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Haus is a villa with a rectangular layout, two floors, a pitched roof, and symmetrical facades on spacious grounds. The building now operates as an extension of the Bonn City Museum and displays residential interiors from the past.

The villa was built in 1819 for a prominent professor and scholar and remains the oldest residential building along the Rhine in Bonn. Its original owner lived there until 1860 and left the house with his personal collections intact.

The ground floor displays original furniture and portraits from the resident's personal collection, while the upper level shows authentic Biedermeier furnishings. Both sections offer insight into how educated and wealthy people lived during that era.

The villa is located on Adenauerallee near the riverside, making it easy to reach on foot. Plan time to explore multiple rooms and exhibition levels at a leisurely pace.

A doorframe inside carries an inscription referencing a small oak grove near the former resident's birthplace. This personal connection to his origins is subtly woven into the building's design.
