Harzburger Hof, Historic hotel structure in Bad Harzburg, Germany.
The Harzburger Hof was a multi-story building with side wings, towers and verandas rising from a hillside. The complex included halls, reading rooms and terraces that offered guests views over the surrounding forests.
The building opened in 1874 and served different purposes until 1989, including as a military hospital during World War I and later as a facility for British soldiers. After several fires it was torn down in 2017.
The name refers to the location near the Harz mountains, where guests from Germany's upper middle class once gathered. The building stood for an era when such places served as meeting points for rest and social life.
The site is now a construction area where a new hotel is being developed. Visitors can observe the development from a distance, but access is not possible.
During its early years the building operated its own theater and concert hall for guests. A riding arena was also part of the complex, which was uncommon for hotels at that time.
