Klingerhaus

The Klingerhaus is a four-story corner building in Leipzig positioned at the intersection of Petersstrasse and Schlossgasse. The structure features elaborately decorated travertine facades on its upper stories with dormer windows and a tower-like corner section, while lower levels contain separate shop entrances.

The building was constructed in 1887 when a soap and perfume manufacturer commissioned architect Arwed Rossbach after acquiring the land in 1858. It reflected the growing prosperity of Leipzig's merchants and their desire to create impressive commercial buildings.

The building displays ornate travertine decorations on its upper floors, while the ground and lower levels maintain simpler designs. This division reflects how the facade presented elegance while commerce took place below.

The building stands at a central corner location where Petersstrasse and Schlossgasse meet, making it easy to find and access. Multiple separate shop entrances on the ground level allow visitors to approach and view the building from different angles.

The building features an unusual three-story corner projection topped with a tower-like structure that sets it apart from other Leipzig merchant buildings. This distinctive architectural form made it a recognizable landmark in the city center.
