The Heilig-Geist-Kirche stands at the intersection of Äußere Zittauer Straße and Mühlenstraße, surrounded by gardens through which the Seltenrein stream flows.
The church received its first documented mention in 1458 as a hospital church for the nearby Holy Spirit hospice, though Franciscan monks likely built it in 1346.
The building contains architectural elements spanning six centuries, featuring a late Gothic core structure with a hall church design, choir, and roof turret.
Following renovations completed in 2015, the church offers barrier-free access and modern sanitary facilities while maintaining its historical character.
The church served as a filming location for the ninth episode of the television series Pfarrer Braun in 2005.
