St. Maria Magdalena und Lazarus, Early Gothic chapel at Melaten Cemetery, Cologne, Germany
The chapel features two separate naves within its structure, with ten remaining glazed openings and colorful stained glass windows depicting various saints.
Founded in 1243, the chapel predates Cologne Cathedral and originally served as a place of worship for both leprosy patients and healthy individuals.
The stained glass windows from 1975 display Saint Lazarus, John the Baptist, Mary Magdalene, Saint Pantaleon, and Archangel Michael in the choir area.
The chapel is accessible via public transportation, with KVB lines 1 and 7 stopping at the Melaten station near the western part of the cemetery.
The church bell originated from the town hall chapel of St. Maria in Jerusalem and now resides in the roof turret of this structure.
