Schlagzeugmuseum Ludwigsburg, Percussion instrument museum in Ludwigsburg, Germany
The Schlagzeugmuseum Ludwigsburg is dedicated to drum history and displays various drum kits, individual pieces, and memorabilia across roughly 250 square meters (2,700 square feet). The collection spans several decades of rock and popular music, presenting original instruments used by performers.
The museum was founded in 2011 by Marcel Vogelmann as Germany's first and only institution dedicated entirely to drum history. Since its opening, it has grown as a specialized collection focused on percussion instruments from rock music eras.
The museum displays drums from musicians like Joe Morello, Buddy Rich, Keith Moon, Ian Paice, Ginger Baker, and Jason Bonham, loaned specifically for exhibition. This collection reflects the importance of these instrumentalists in rock music history and reveals the craftsmanship behind their artistry.
The museum is located in the Pflugfelden district at Wilhelm-Fein-Straße 6 and is accessed via the upper floor. Visitors should contact the museum through Instagram or email beforehand to arrange a visit time.
About eighty percent of the collection consists of instruments loaned directly from the musicians themselves or their estates. This makes the museum a place of authentic history, as many drums were actually played by these famous performers.
