Gjorslev, Gothic castle in Stevns Municipality, Denmark
The castle features a cruciform design with surrounding moats, constructed from local limestone and large bricks known as monk stones.
Built in 1396 by Peder Jensen Lodehat, the castle remained under control of Roskilde bishops until its confiscation during the 1537 Reformation.
The limestone materials from Gjorslev castle were later used in the construction of the Lindencrone Mansion in Copenhagen during the 19th century.
The castle stands 17 kilometers southeast of Køge, with its central tower rising 30 meters high across seven distinct stories.
The structure maintains its original medieval cruciform layout, incorporating a cellar passage that connected to the bishop's chapel.
