Jægersborg Vandtårn, Former water tower apartments near Jægersborg station, Denmark

Jægersborg Vandtårn is a cylindrical residential building with 36 apartments stacked in its upper levels and a community activity center on the ground floor. The reinforced concrete structure rises 45 meters tall and is topped by a red tank that hints at its original purpose as a water storage facility.

The tower was built in 1955 by Rasmussen og Schiøttz to supply water pressure to a rapidly growing Copenhagen neighborhood. Its conversion into housing marked a practical response to transforming outdated infrastructure into useful living space.

The tower has become a local landmark that visitors recognize immediately when exploring the area around the station. Its unusual shape shows how practical buildings can turn into symbols that people remember and talk about.

The building sits directly near Jægersborg station, making it easy to reach by public transport or bike. Its central location means you can walk or cycle here quickly from other parts of the city.

A 2006 renovation by Dorte Mandrup Arkitekter added geometric bay windows that contrast with the circular shape and create distinct spaces inside. This modern addition shows how older buildings can be thoughtfully updated while keeping their character intact.
