Court carpenter Dietrich Schäffer constructed this country house between 1755 and 1756, initially planning to sell it to the king as a replacement for the Ibstrup hunting lodge.
The Foundation for Danish-Norwegian Cooperation maintains this property as a center for educational and cultural exchange between Denmark and Norway since the 1940s.
