Kaleko Mølle, Historical watermill in Faaborg-Midtfyn Municipality, Denmark
Kaleko Mølle is a watermill with timber framing in Faaborg-Midtfyn Municipality, positioned on sloping terrain to harness natural water flow for grinding. The building merges residential spaces with mill machinery in a single integrated structure.
The building was constructed in the 1400s and operated as a production site for over 400 years before ceasing work in 1912. After milling stopped, it was later incorporated into the Øhavsmuseet museum collection.
The miller and his family lived in direct connection with the mill spaces, with living quarters and work areas sharing the same building. The preserved household items and furniture show how daily life unfolded between craft and family routines.
Two marked walking routes depart from the mill building toward Sundet lake and the coastal area, with information signs placed along the paths. The trails are easy to walk and offer water-related activities for families along the way.
The building served as a filming location for the Danish television series Nissebanden in 1984 and Nissernes Ø in 2003, gaining national recognition through these productions. This film connection brought the site attention well beyond its local region.
