Saltlageret, Music venue in Copenhagen, Denmark
Saltlageret was a music club at Kongevej 10 that hosted concerts and live entertainment with a capacity of around 400 seats. The venue presented both Danish and international artists such as Nick Cave, Erasure, and The Mission.
A former pumping station was converted into a music club in 1975 and operated until its closure in 1987. The building was then demolished to make room for the Tycho Brahe Planetarium.
It served as a hub for punk and underground bands, where artists performed on stage before crowds of around 400. This network of musicians and fans shaped the city's alternative music scene over more than a decade.
The venue was situated in an easily accessible area within the city center near other entertainment destinations. Visitors found an informal setting that worked well for live music performances.
The final performance took place in spring 1987, just before the building had to make way for a planetarium. This unexpected transformation of a music venue into a scientific institution marked the end of an era.
