Circus Building

The Circus Building is a circular structure at Axel Torv with a shallow dome and a decorative frieze depicting ancient Roman and Greek motifs. The building has modern technical facilities that complement its nineteenth-century architectural elements and support various types of performances.

Architect Henrik Vilhelm Brinkopff designed this historicist building in 1886 as a permanent center for circus performances in Copenhagen. The structure was built during a period when large urban venues were constructed in stone and iron to meet growing demand for entertainment.

The building began as a traditional circus arena and evolved into a modern entertainment venue now run by Wallmans salonger for dinner shows and performances. This transformation shows how the space adapted to new forms of entertainment while keeping its original character intact.
