Landsoldaten med den lille hornblæser

This bronze work depicts a standing soldier accompanied by a young horn player on a granite base situated near Copenhagen City Hall. The monument is positioned along H.C. Andersens Boulevard and serves as a recognizable landmark in the city center.

Sculptor Hans Peder Pedersen-Dan created this monument in 1899 to commemorate Danish soldiers who fought in the Schleswig Wars of 1848-1850 and 1864. These conflicts were defining events in 19th century Danish history.

The inscriptions on the base feature medallions with portraits of King Christian IX and King Frederik VII, reflecting Danish military heritage. These details remind visitors of how this period shaped national identity.
